We recently completed a floor screed for St Mary’s School in Cambridge. The work was undertaken for one of our regular clients who were awarded the main contract for this project. Our screeding operatives laid 1200g Visqueen DPM followed by 100mm Kingspan insulation followed by another layer of 1200g Visqueen DPM and 75-95mm of traditional sharp sand and cement screed with PP fibers for an area of 237m2 on the ground floor. With both the DPM (damp proof membrane) and insulation, these need to be lapped at the edges to prevent any heat bridging into the perimeter walls and to block any damp penetrating the floor. It is also important that the insulation is laid flat and level to stop any movement affecting the screed above. Unlike most floor screeding contractors who sub-contract the work to outside screeders, we train our operatives in-house from apprentice to ensure that their skills match our standards. This way we can guarantee the quality of the floor preparation along with the excellence of the mixture and work. We guarantee our screed along with the flatness that is to SR1, which is the highest standard in the industry.
