GRANOLITHIC SCREED
Granolithic Screed Contractors in London & the South East
O. C. Floor Screeding lays granolithic screed for industrial, commercial and domestic projects across London and the South East. With over 30 years' experience, we install heavy-duty floors that stand up to demanding use.
Granolithic screed is a high strength, hard wearing flooring system. It is ideal for areas subjected to heavy compressive loads, such as warehouses, industrial units, plant rooms and weightlifting areas.
It can be laid bonded or floating at around 30 to 100mm or more, and wire mesh reinforcement can be added to form a structural screed. Because it is so hard wearing, it can be left as the finished surface with no floor covering.
WHAT IS GRANOLITHIC SCREED?
Granolithic screed is a combination of sharp sand, cement, granite aggregate and a polymer additive, batched on site to create an exceptionally dense, abrasion-resistant floor. Due to its heavy-duty nature, it can be left as a wearing surface needing no floor finish, or painted with epoxy paint to help prevent stains.

FAQs
What is granolithic screed used for?
Granolithic screed is mainly used in industrial, commercial and domestic buildings where floors take heavy loads, machinery or high point loads. It provides a durable, hard-wearing surface designed for demanding environments.
Can granolithic screed be left uncovered?
Yes. In many warehouses, plant rooms, electrical substations and garages, the screed is left as the final wearing surface. It can be painted with epoxy paint to help prevent stains.
Is granolithic screed suitable for domestic properties?
Yes. It can be used in domestic plant rooms, home gyms where weights may be dropped on the floor, and garages that take the heavy load of cars driving in and out.
Can granolithic screed be used with underfloor heating?
It can be, but it is not normally the preferred option. Depending on your project, traditional or fast drying screeds may be a more suitable solution.
Is granolithic screed stronger than standard sand and cement screed?
Yes. Granolithic screed is denser and more abrasion resistant, and it handles heavier wear and loading than a standard sand and cement screed.
