POLYMER SCREED
Polymer Screed Contractors in London & the South East
O. C. Floor Screeding lays polymer screed on domestic, commercial and refurbishment projects across London and the South East. With over 30 years' experience, we know when polymer screed is the right choice and when another system will suit your project better.
Polymer screed is a high strength sand and cement screed modified with a polymer resin. It can be laid from around 10mm thick, which makes it ideal where floor build-up is restricted, and it dries faster than a traditional screed at roughly 25mm a week.
Because we install a wide range of screed systems, we only recommend polymer screed where it is the best solution for your project. Every screed is mixed on site in our own screed pumps, so we keep full control over the quality of the materials.
WHAT IS POLYMER SCREED?
Polymer screed is a combination of sharp sand and cement strengthened with a polymer resin. As well as being extremely hard wearing, it has increased strength and bonding properties, improved flexural strength and water resistant qualities, and shrinkage and cracking are minimised. It is ideal for floors that must bear heavy loads, such as garage floors and industrial fridges, and can be applied bonded on top of ground floor slabs, precast concrete and suspended floors, or unbonded and floating.

Why Choose Polymer Screed?
Benefits of Polymer Screed
- High strength, even at reduced thicknesses.
- Excellent adhesion to concrete substrates.
- Suitable where floor build-up is restricted.
- More flexible than traditional screeds.
- Can be used for bonded screed applications.
- Suitable for domestic, commercial and refurbishment projects.
- Excellent durability and long-term performance.
- Dries faster than traditional or liquid screed.
Every project has different requirements. We offer traditional, fibre reinforced, fast drying, liquid, granolithic and polymer screeds, so we can recommend the most appropriate system for your project rather than a one-size-fits-all solution.
FAQs
What is polymer screed?
Polymer screed is a sand and cement screed modified with specialist polymer additives to improve strength, flexibility and adhesion. It is commonly used where high performance is required or where a thinner screed depth is needed.
When should polymer screed be used?
Polymer screed is ideal where reduced screed thicknesses are required or where extra strength and adhesion are needed, such as refurbishment projects and commercial applications.
Can polymer screed be used with underfloor heating?
Yes. Polymer screed can be used with underfloor heating systems where specified and installed in line with the manufacturer's recommendations.
Is polymer screed stronger than traditional screed?
Polymer screeds are designed to achieve high strengths while allowing thinner sections than conventional sand and cement screeds. The most appropriate system depends on your project requirements.
How thick does polymer screed need to be?
One of the advantages of polymer screed is that it can be laid much thinner than traditional screed, from around 10mm, which helps where floor build-up is restricted.
Is polymer screed fast drying?
Yes. Polymer screed dries at roughly 25mm a week, faster than traditional or liquid screed. If you need an even quicker drying time, our fast drying screeds may be more suitable.
